Our Journey so far

Dear Readers,

I hope this finds you well.  My name is Hinal Patel and I'm the founder of ohmkara previously known as Aura Sanctuary. This is a note from me to you to give you an insight into my journey to date and why I began ohmkara and how it has changed my life. 

​

Like most of you I was feeling pressure, exhaustion and was always burnt out - always sick and never present in the moment! I had a leadership role in a large corporation where I had little to no time to think, process and relax! Relax in terms of just some self care, I always felt like I was a 100 miles per hour, with home, a full time job and a 4 year old! So after a wonderful Christmas break, I went back and thought I can do this, like we all do (a bit of self talk)! Well, by mid January I had QUIT! I had no plans and no idea of what I was going to do,  and I actually didn't realise what I did until later that week! It felt scary but at the same time I felt a sense of relief. I started gardening leave...

During this period we went to Mauritius and this is where my journey began. I went to the spa and had a 90 minute treatment everyday! Yes the bill was huge but was well worth it. During this period my hormones balanced themselves, stress levels came down and I managed to relax and process my thoughts! I had a wonderful treatment experience with an amazing therapist and all 5  senses were touched

1. Vision, birds of prey plants

2. Hearing, water fountain by the mini cold pool

3. Touch, the treatment

4. Smell, incense sticks

5. Taste, orange infused water and herbal tea after treatment

Some may think those are little things but to me they made a memorable experience. I never knew how important it was to invigorate all my senses for relaxation, it changed my perception on treatments and spas completely! We needed this experience at home, somewhere to go, somewhere for people to go and feel all 5 senses, giving ourselves a place to stop, think and process before it gets too much. This is where Aura Sanctuary was born - now called ohmkara!​

Treatments turned into experiences, private dining and now products! My objective is to support your journey whether you're visiting our Spa for relaxation, Kitchen for some wonderful Indian food or buying our products so you can feel the experience at home.

Its been such a great journey so far and I couldn't have done this without my customers! So a huge thank you to all of you for letting me be a part of your journey and you supporting mine!
